All over the countryside in North West Leicestershire there are rocks, concrete blocks and piles of earth in lay-bys, entrances and gateways. What is going on, or, more precisely, what is being stopped from going on? The 17 photographs in the book "Blocks to Thinking" address an issue of social exclusion across North West Leicestershire, where travellers are excluded from possible parking places. Separately, in a poem running through the book, contemporary poet Harriett Warner meditates on the blocks to thinking in our modern society, in response to the photographs by Robert Ashby.
